ONE SMALL GLANCE CHANGED MY PERSPECTIVE 10.12.20
My sufferings can loom so large that they can blot out the joy, or even the God who walks alongside me. If I only looked at my feet I would only see what had fallen. By looking up I can see the full beauty surrounding me.
Are you ever afraid of joy? Afraid to revel in what is good, due to the fear of what is around the next corner? Do you spend your time preparing yourself for the next tragedy instead of embracing the joy right in front of you?
Joy is often defined by people of our surrounding culture and, as a result, its definition is devoid of God. It's devoid of real truth, leaving me to define it myself.
But then the child, the miracle, came. I was pregnant. “Aren’t you just over the moon with joy?!!,” people asked. No, I found myself saying. No. I was sick, sore, tired, hungry, and full of fear. She was not to be my source of joy.
